As the compilation and distribution organization of the National Building Materials and Home Furnishing Prosperity Index (hereinafter referred to as the Index), the Association collects relevant data from 50000 building materials and home furnishing merchants (shops) at designated centralized collection points nationwide every month for analysis. The index fully reflects the prosperity and market trend of building materials, home decoration materials, and also reflects the strength of rigid demand for real estate compared with the national real estate development prosperity index.

Although the relevant data of November across the country have not been completely reported, it is not difficult to analyze the existing information in October and the national epidemic control situation in November, and the overall data of the building materials and home furnishing market in the fourth quarter will not have high scores.

A few days ago, our reporter interviewed the heads of home stores of different sizes in Beijing, Xi'an, Harbin and other places by telephone. They said that most of the stores were closed or semi closed recently, and even if they were open normally, there were few people.

From January to October this year, the cumulative sales of building materials and home furnishing stores above designated size nationwide were 1028.381 billion yuan, up 10.64% year on year. The index in October was 98.12, down 6.22 points month on month and 71.68 points year on year.

The sales volume of building materials and home furnishing stores above the national scale in October was 82.507 billion yuan, down 16.84% month on month and 42.52% year on year.

The person in charge of the association pointed out that "although the data of the fourth quarter is not optimistic, the overall situation of the building materials and home furnishing market this year is still growing compared with last year from the annual data."

The Industry Research Department of the Association pointed out that in October, the repeated epidemic situation continued in many places, the consumption demand for building materials and home furnishings weakened, and the prosperity index of the national building materials and home furnishings market declined rarely. On the one hand, from the perspective of the national real estate market, the report of the Twentieth National Congress of the Communist Party of China pointed out that "we should adhere to the orientation that houses are used for living, not for speculation, and accelerate the establishment of a housing system with multi supply, multi-channel security, and simultaneous rent and purchase".

The policy of easing the property market across the country is still being actively introduced, but due to the weakening of housing price expectations, repeated outbreaks in many places in the short term and other factors, the sentiment of home buyers has not improved significantly. The overall national real estate market continues to bottomed out, and the market as a whole is still under pressure.

In terms of market performance, in October of the traditional peak season, there was an off-season decline, and the overall transaction of property market in key cities remained sluggish.

On the other hand, the epidemic situation spread in many places, and the promotion activities of the relevant regional building materials and home furnishing stores during the National Day holiday could not be carried out on a large scale. Some areas were still temporarily closed. At the same time, the household decoration was also affected by the epidemic prevention and control, and the demand for building materials and home furnishing consumption weakened in the peak season. Several sub indexes affecting the index have declined.

The "popularity index" in October was 163.06, up 75.21 points month on month and down 248.87 points year on year.

In order to seize the sales, the major building materials and home furnishing stores usually carry out various promotional activities during the National Day, attracting a rise in popularity in October. However, in October, the epidemic situation occurred frequently in many aspects across the country, leaving a large gap in market popularity compared with the same period last year.

The leading index of "Manager Confidence Index" was 118.14, down 37.29 points month on month and 2.81 points year on year.

Due to the continuous pressure of economic slowdown and the influence of factors such as the weakness of the real estate market and repeated epidemics, the market is worried about the traditional off-season, and it is reasonable for managers to lose confidence. In the future, with the reduction of the impact of the epidemic and the adjustment of the epidemic prevention policy, the package of policies to stabilize the economy and promote consumption will continue to take effect, and the demand for building materials and home furnishing will be gradually released.

According to the manufacturing purchasing manager index released by the National Bureau of Statistics and the Federation of Logistics and Purchasing, in October, the manufacturing purchasing manager index (PMI) was 49.2%, 0.9 percentage points lower than the previous month, lower than the critical point, and the foundation for China's economic recovery and development needs to be further consolidated.

It is expected that since December, all parts of the country have successively released documents to relax epidemic control, which is considered by insiders as a good signal for the market to flow again.

The person in charge of a research institution also suggested that the national building materials and home furnishing enterprises actively innovate to keep up with the pace of current market changes, seek "certainty" opportunities in the uncertainty, and solve the "urgent, difficult, anxious, and hopeful" problems of consumers based on product quality and services.
